Totally the opposite

Sunday 12th september
What a fantastic ride. The 'road to hell' turned out to be much easier than we had thought. Tim and I hjad spent the last couple of nights dreading this drive dowen the foothills of the Himalayas, McGill a little more indifferent about the possibility of a catastrophic crash. However, we all really enjoyed the experience despite a couple of near collisions, myself with a wall and McGill with an oncoming car. McGill also managed to get some air between the Tuk and the tarmac as he sped over a ramp in the road - proper 'Dukes of Hazard' style.

We completed the first section of the trip at about 5 pm in a town of SILIGURI or to our philistine minds SILLY GURU. During our journey we passed a few teams who had broken down ranging from punctures to 'it just won't start'.  We later heard that some had had catastrophic transmission failures halfway down the mountain pass. All in all a great day finished with a decent curry, a couple of beers and the best part of a bottle of whisky.
